CAMILLA'S NEWSLETTER - November 2006

We had a wonderful show at the Armory, The International Art + Design Fair.  If we have to summarize what sold, it was BIG, BOLD and GOLD.  Jewelry from the 40's thru the 70's  was strong.  We still sell beautiful platinum Edwardian and Art Deco pieces but the emphasis changed at this show, particularly, the focus on the 70's.

Our next show is in Greenwich Connecticut, Antiquarius from December 1 - 3.  The show will be held at the Greenwich Civic Center, 90 Harding Road, Old Greenwich, Connecticut.  The opening cocktail party on Friday Dec 1 is from 6:30pm - 9:30pm; Saturday the show is open from 11am - 6pm, and Sunday from 11am - 5pm.

Then we do our holiday show from December 12 - 16 in our office with champagne flowing from 4pm on.

GOLD AND DIAMOND NECKLACE

18N939 - This is a very wearable necklace from the 40's.  It has 5.85 ct of diamonds.  It is lightweight and comfortable and fits nicely inside a shirt or jacket.

TIFFANY BANGLE

19A067 - Tiffany 18k bangle with jasper inlay, a sort of black-spotted beige.  I think this was probably one of a kind.

Jewelry 2

CARTIER EARRINGS

19E100 - These are fabulous Cartier earrings from the 50's.  We think they represent a littlle Indian man with a diamond-studded 18k gold turban, a pearl face and a turquoise collar.  I have never seen this model before.

Two pairs of dangling earrings.

18E545 - Green quartz earrings with micro-pavé diamonds.  These are on a wire.

MISCELLANEOUS

When I broke my arm last year, Ann Free gave me a boudoir pillow that was the softest, comfiest pillow I'd ever had.  This year when she was visiting, I commented on how much I loved it and that it must be the finest down, etc.  Ann said no and we checked; it is a synthetic called Primaloft.  I am picky, picky about my bed and this is the best pillow ever.  I fear that I am becoming a baby with its "blankie"; I can not be separated from my pillow and don't sleep as well without it.  Primaloft comes in other sizes and can be found at Gracious Home, 212.517.6300, at 3rd Avenue and 70th Street.

I finally went to see "The Queen".  I had dawdled about seeing it and I urge you to make haste.  Helen Mirren is more "the Queen" than the Queen.  She is magnificent.  I'm a long time Helen Mirren fan, having been introduced to her through Prime Suspect on PBS.  I also rented a movie from Netflix called Painted Lady (1997 - Masterpiece Theater), written for Helen Mirren.  I don't know how I missed it but it is quite good, and I think you will like it too.

We are excited to present our first gift catalogue, which includes non-jewelry items.  Customers often ask us for ideas, so here they are.  Once again, Noel has done the fabulous layout.  Noel, Gus, and Jane have all been involved, and I think we have chosen well.  Quantities are limited so call us early.
