CAMILLA'S NEWSLETTER - October 2007

First, we want to alert you to our annual holiday show in December.  You will receive an invitation and the dates are December 5th through 8th, 11am - 7pm each day.  We have foregone the opening night cocktail party this year, and instead will have champagne and hors d'oeuvres each night from 4 until 7.

We are happy to welcome Marcella Ciceri as President of Corso 818, LLC, our newly formed international subsidiary.  We have found that there is strong demand for our goods overseas and she will help us expand our network and tap more into foreign markets.  Marcella has almost 20 years experience in precious stone sourcing, jewelry design, and sales.  She will be splitting her time between New York and Europe.

STARFISH BRACELET

We recently met a young designer who is extraordinarily talented.  His name is Michael Gomez and he is a true goldsmith.  All his jewelry is handmade.  We couldn't resist this sealife bracelet.  The starfish are in oxidized silver studded with 2.74 cts of diamonds, centered with cabochon rubies and trimmed with 18k gold.  The shells are in 18k gold. This bracelet makes a statement.  We look forward to showing you more of Michael's designs.

CHARM BRACELET

BBA123.  This charm bracelet was custom made by David Webb, probably in the 60's.  There are 14 diamond, colored stone, and platinum charms from the 20's all set in a gold bracelet which forms a cuff.  These charms were probably inherited from the family and updated by Webb in the 60's.  It is spectacular.

TURTLE BROOCHES

BBB456.  As you know I love two or more brooches and here are three little gold turtles.  When you wear two or more brooches, you have to allow a little bit more time to get ready and it is usually better to pin the brooches on your jacket before you put it on.  Also remember to pin them high and draw the eye up.  With these you could even put two on the front and one on the back.

LAKE FOREST SHOW

We had a most successful visit to Lake Forest, Illinois, hosted by Annemette Clausen at her lovely home.  I lectured on how we look at and value jewelry and accompanied by Noel and Ashley, we then showed our wares with 10% of the proceeds going to the University of Chicago Cancer Research Foundation.  We and cancer had a very successful outing. Annemette, we can not thank you enough.

MISCELLANEOUS

For a great read that will keep you up all night, go out and buy The Ghost by Robert Harris.  A ghost writer begins the memoirs of a controversial former British Prime Minister and discovers all is not what it seems.  Do not start this unless you have some spare time.  There's a real twist at the end.  Do not peek!!!

One of my most popular recomendations has been the Primaloft pillows, the luxury alternative to down.  Alas Gracious Home does not carry them any more and trying to order from Bloomingdales was a lesson in futility.  I am happy to report that you can get them easily online from RestorationHardware.com.

My favorite accessory purchases (excepting jewelry of course) of the last few years have been cashmere and silk shawls from Hermès.  Last year I got the most glorious one, Magic Carpet, with reds and burgundies and oranges.  This year I got a fabulous one called Mexican Hat Dance, in muted tones of lavender, khaki, beiges and tans.  While pricey, they instantly rejuvenate a wardrobe.  Each design comes in several colorations.  My salesman is Greg Grimes (212-751-3181) at 691 Madison Avenue, who also happens to be the salesman for Ann Free and Judy Haberkorn.

Noel recently put me on to two sites for perfumes, etc. — usaperfumes.com and fragrancenow.com.  I ordered from the first and got my purchases quite quickly.  The prices are sharply discounted.  They also had interesting things like a small size body lotion (1.7 oz) of Joy for $5 that I'd never seen before that I ordered for travel.
