We noted last month that our zip code had changed from 10021 to 10065. While the post office still delivers the old zip, it is taking twice as long. We urge you to change your records ASAP for the office and me at home.
Ashley Mendel is our newest employee coming to us from Sotheby's Jewelry and Sotheby's Diamonds. Ashley is from Greenwich and went to Northwestern; she is working on her degree from GIA. We are delighted to have her with us.

VCA EARRINGS
20E498. A pair of 18k gold and lapis earrings from Van Cleef and Arpels, c. 1970.

We just went to the fabulous 100th birthday bash for Van Cleef and Arpels where many beautiful designs were on display. AS we've said before, this is the year to own a piece of Van Cleef.
TURTLE BROOCHES
I am trying to get up enough nerve to wear all four of these little turtles together which could be a very good look for this fall.
19B924. A little French turtle in malachite, diamonds and gold.
20B195. A gold and coral enamel one with diamonds, rubies and moveable head.
19B412. A malachite one in 14k gold with a turquoise head and moveable coral feet.
20B183. One with about 30 cts of ceylon sapphires and rubies and diamonds.

I wore three yesterday and I think it was quite a good look
Our friend Suzanne Tennenbaum has perfected the art of multiple brooch wearing. She adores her poodle Colette and is shown with five poodle brooches from Van Cleef, Cartier and Verdura. The Cartier one in the center was found by us. Choose a theme and start your collection.

BLACKAMOOR BROOCHES
Another theme...Blackamoors. Two of the best we've seen in a while; wood and gold and stones and enamel. We usually sell these to the chic Italians. I'd love these to stay in America.

FLASH: I got my wish. The brooches sold before the newsletter went out. Sold as a pair and are staying in America. I'll try to get the new owner to pose for the newsletter next month.
BUCCELLATI NECKLACE
20N136. We just bought this wonderful Buccellati necklace. It is fabulous on and is good inside a collar or on bare skin.
TIGER'S EYE NECKLACE
20N601. This tiger's eye necklace from the 70's is a long one and very desirable right now.

MISCELLANEOUS
I've got lots of books to recommend this month.
There is a new book out by Daniel Silva, the Secret Servant featuring Gabriel Allon, art restorer/Mossad operative. It is a great read. If you've not read his books before and you like this, there are many earlier ones to wallow in. Michael Thomas, always a good source, recommended a new one to me, an Australian called Peter Temple. I just finished the Broken Shore about an Australian policeman and I can't wait to read the two others. A thriller, Power Play, by Joseph Finder, will have you hanging by your fingernails.
Alas Michael Dibdin died recently. This English author, who popularized the Italian policeman, Aurelio Zen, will be sorely missed. Thank goodness his latest, End Game, is just out.
In 1992, Sally and Ron Burns, Eliza's parents, started a fun little maple syrup hobby at their farm in Belmont, Vermont. Today, Hedgehog Hill Vermont Maple Syrup has grown into a fun and exciting family run operation which now includes honey! Eliza even designed the label when she was 8 years old!
My husband thought the last picture of Abba looked as if she had been swimming in the East River. She now weighs 5 lbs 2 oz, compared to just over 3 when I got her. While she still has some health problems, love and Lenox Hill Vets are winning the battle, we hope.
